Asthma is a chronic ailment of the respiratory system that affects the bronchi and mucous membranes. There is no age limit for this disease. Women and children are more likely to suffer from it. Elderly people are most affected by the disease . Asthma disability, benefits and payments that are attached to it, are given after an expert assessment of the general condition of the patient. The etiology of the disease can be mixed. Factors provoking partial airway dysfunction include:
- hereditary predisposition;
- metabolic disorders;
- an allergic reaction to dandruff, tobacco smoke, wool, fluff, mold, synthetic substances;
- infectious pathologies;
- a weakened immune system;
- drug therapy;
- excess weight.
The list of symptoms includes cough, dyspnea, shallow breathing, pain in the chest area. The clinical picture is complemented by excessive sweating, swelling of the veins in the neck, surges in blood pressure, wheezing in the lungs, daytime sleepiness and confusion. Respiratory arrest may occur. In this case, the patient needs emergency medical attention.
Asthma has developed over the years. To curb the progression of the disease, the patient is prescribed effective therapy. To assess well-being, the patient should regularly undergo control clinical studies. With a decrease in indicators, the doctor adjusts the drug regimen.
Do you give disability in asthma?
Asthma is a disease in which you can live a full life. If the doctor’s recommendations are followed, the pathogenesis will slow down. A mild illness is not considered a basis for applying for a pension. This is because:
- Asthma progresses gradually.
- The suffocation that occurs during an exacerbation can be quickly stopped.
- The clinic has no cardiovascular or respiratory failure.
To formalize disability in asthma, determine the severity of the pathology. The first examination is done six months after the detection of bronchial asthma.
How the group is defined
The decision to assign a disability group is made based on the results of the ITU. To get a referral, the patient must see a GP (pediatrician). He will refer the patient for a complete medical examination. He should also visit highly specialized specialists. Their consultation is necessary to determine an accurate diagnosis.
When determining the disability group, much attention is paid to the nature of the complications. They are most often present in the clinical picture in the elderly. In this case, the pensioner is assigned an additional examination. The factors that aggravate the general condition of the patient are also considered detrimental addictions, hereditary predisposition and the negative impact of the external environment.
It is necessary to visit the therapist again after following all his recommendations. The data obtained during the prophylactic examination are entered into the history of the disease. After that, the chief physician of the polyclinic should familiarize himself with it and other documents. A referral for examination, issued at a medical institution at the place of registration, is referred to the ITU bureau. The patient is given a document confirming the new status, and a date for re-examination is assigned.
Third group
Disability is assigned if the patient suffers from asthma average degree of gravity. Attacks are eliminated with specific drugs. If the disease enters the exacerbation phase, the patient must be hospitalized. This is necessary to stabilize the general condition. Through timely therapy, they slow down the progression of asthma.
Adults who have been assigned the third disability group are provided with more comfortable working conditions: a shorter working day, a flexible schedule. Patients from this category should not work in hazardous work. Dust, chemical compounds and other harmful substances that have entered the respiratory system significantly worsen the patient’s condition. Children with moderate asthma have learning disabilities. Physical activity is prohibited for them.
With the third group of disability, physical activity is contraindicated.
Second group
The second group is given to patients with a history of complications that have spread to the internal organs. There is a sharp decrease in vitality. The same can be said for the self-service level. The patient should work in gentle conditions. To prevent the development of complications, doctors recommend spa treatment.
First group
Severe asthma is diagnosed when a patient develops severe pathological changes. The list of possible negative consequences includes pulmonary emphysema, acute respiratory failure and cardiac ischemia. The patient has serious difficulties with self-care. Even in remission, the patient suffers from shortness of breath. It is impossible to study and live fully in such a state.
Registration of disability
Disability means complete or partial loss of working capacity. Once the group has been identified, it needs to be verified regularly. An exception to this rule is for patients with a history of severe asthma. This is due to the development of irreversible consequences. The date of the re- inspection is set by the ITU specialists. With a noticeable improvement in general well-being, disability is removed. Also, according to the law, it is possible to transfer a patient from one group to another. If the patient does not agree with the decision of the medical board, he can contact a higher-level ITU office. The term of circulation for this diagnosis is one month. When you contact the bureau again, there is no need to collect additional documents.
Necessary analyzes and documents
Before visiting the ITU bureau, a package of documents is prepared. The list of criteria by which disability is established is spelled out in the order of the Ministry of Labor of Russia. The list of mandatory documents includes:
- passport (birth certificate);
- medical policy;
- referral issued by the clinic;
- statement;
- bypass sheet;
- diagnostic results.
