Physical exercises in asthma: what exercises will save the lungs

There is a misconception that bronchial asthma is a contraindication to any exertion. In fact, there are exercises that help reduce the severity and frequency of seizures.

Bronchial asthma is one of the common diseases. Today, approximately 300 million people in the world have been diagnosed with bronchial asthma. At the same time, about 5% of the population is sick in Ukraine, which corresponds to approximately 2.3 million people.

The diagnosis of bronchial asthma makes a person constantly beware of all kinds of risks, because an attack can provoke anything. Therefore, people with asthma try to avoid any physical exertion. And it’s completely in vain, because the exercises will not only not hurt, but also help the lungs work better.

Gymnastics for breathing

In bronchial asthma, intense and unbalanced physical activity is really contraindicated, since they can provoke another attack of suffocation. But does this mean a complete rejection of exercise or exercise? Of course not. Just follow some rules.

Training should take place according to specially designed programs. Patients with a diagnosis of asthma are recommended so-called breathing exercises.

The main tasks that breathing exercises pose are:

  • Restoring the balance of processes of excitation-inhibition of the brain, normalization of the respiratory center.
  • Improved lung ventilation.
  • Elimination of excessive narrowing of the bronchioles and bronchi, which causes asthma.
  • Activation of nutrient processes in tissues.
  • Training a person for extended expiration.
  • Learning how to control your breathing, especially during an attack.

Complex breathing exercises

“Awakening”

This exercise should be performed on waking up without getting out of bed. Lying on your back, you should bend your legs at the knees, pull them to the chest as much as possible. At the same time, a leisurely exhalation through the mouth is performed. Repeat the exercise several times.

“Alternate breathing”

It is performed standing or in a sitting position. First, one nostril closes with a finger and inhale and exhale through the second nostril, then vice versa. The exercise is performed alternately.

“Inflate the stomach”

It is performed in a standing position, with the hands at the waist. When inhaling, it is necessary to inflate your stomach as much as a ball, then retract it with a sharp exhalation. Breath through the nose.

“Resistance”

It is performed standing. To perform this exercise, you need a tube and a vessel filled with water. A very deep breath is taken through the tube, and then exhale as slowly as possible through it, but already into the water. Repeat this exercise for 10 minutes five times a day.

“Woodcutter”

It is carried out in a standing position. You need to raise yourself slightly on your socks, raise your hands in a woven form slightly up and take them back. At the “time”, lower yourself to your feet, quickly lean forward, lowering your hands down (to imitate the felling of firewood), then back, while exhaling heavily and loudly. At the expense of “two” – the starting position.

“Skier”

It is performed standing. The location of the legs is shoulder width apart. You need to lift a little on your toes, lean slightly forward. Imagine that you are now going down a mountain. Hands should be placed in front of you and clenched into fists. At the “time” you need to lower your feet, squat in such a way as to touch your hips with your stomach. Hands first lower down, then pull back. Lean forward and exhale. On the “two”, remaining in the same position (with arms behind), stand on your feet, exhale. Repeat several times.

“Breathing lying”

Perform while lying on your back, while putting your hands under the buttocks. At the expense of “one, two, three” it is necessary to make a long exhale, while drawing in the stomach and using the abdominal press. At the expense of “four” should be inhaled, maximally protruding belly. After this, you need to cough muffled.

“Hiss”

It is performed standing. Inhaling the air with your nose, you should exhale it at the expense of “one-two-three” portions. Then through the teeth to re-exhale, while pronouncing the sounds “w”, “h”.

“Balloons”

It is performed standing. Uses ordinary balloons, which must be inflated until they burst. It is recommended to inflate 2 balls per day.

Do not be lazy and do the listed or similar exercises every day! You will see how asthma recedes and regains control of one’s own breathing.
